About Ella Friedman's Bat Mitzvah

A Bar Mitzvah (for boys) and a Bat Mitzvah (for girls) is  a big milestone!  It is the Coming of Age ceremony in which Jewish children are considered an adult by Jewish law and are morally and ethically responsible for their own actions. This rite of passage happens when a Jewish child turns thirteen. As an adult, they are able to lead the services in prayer, and recite or sing passages from the Torah in Hebrew and interpret the passage in their own words.  Ella has been working with tutors to read Hebrew and recite prayers, while also taking special classes to help her prepare.  On Saturday morning,  Ella will lead the service and give a mini sermon that relates to her portion of the Torah (Hebrew Bible) reading.

 If you prefer to walk on Shabbat, look for lodging in the Rosedale neighborhood.
